When you’re researching global health or International Health resources remember … in addition to determining a destination’s medical and health care options there’s “emotional health”; how it will feel to live in a community. Medical Care in Costa Rica - An expat dealing with major medical challenges
I've had surgery in both the U.S. and in Costa Rica. In the following story I share the details of both experiences and my experience with misdiagnosis and an initial and second amputation on the same leg.

Moving to Costa Rica to Retire
I moved to Costa Rica over three years ago from San Diego, California at the age of 54 to retire and live well.

Small Town Living In Mexico: Shopping For Groceries
Food down here tastes better, we think. Eggs, chicken, fresh fruits and veggies especially just taste better.
Many people have avocado, lime, orange, papaya, mango, etc. trees in their back yards. We often get free delicious fruits from our friends and neighbors. Driscoll Farms have raspberry, blackberry, and strawberry farms nearby so we enjoy these fruits most of the year as well.

Living in Mexico since 2004 -- What Prompted our Move
My husband, Miguel Roman and I are both professionals from Colorado in the business-recruiting industry. In 2004, we acted on a spontaneous urge elicited by an AARP article I read regaling the advantages of living in the Lake Chapala area of Mexico.
The article jumped off the page at me and I immediately booked us flights to come down to explore the area. We had always enjoyed Mexico, but we’d never explored any area of Mexico’s interior and had no idea what we would find.
