Retirement in Nosara, Costa Rica- Retiring in Nosara, Costa Rica- Living in Nosara, Costa Rica- Cost of Living in Nosara, Costa Rica

Nosara is a quaint little town desired by many Americans and Europeans. It offers two pristine beaches and great surfing.  North American retirees have effectively made Guiones a small extension of the U.S.- although with good taste.

Lacking a centralized town, the area is spread out, and it provides a very relaxed setting.  Here, you will find a quiet and secluded community in which to enjoy Nosara's natural surroundings including surfing, swimming and sun bathing, and a world-renown yoga retreat.

This area of Costa Rica is desired for many reasons, one being the varied terrain. Guanacaste is home to volcanos, coffee plantations, cloud forests, jungles, hills, mountains and the tropical Pacific waters. Some of the very best surfing is in Guanacaste.  However I have heard that surfing is sometimes restricted on certain beaches to protect the turtles.

Traveling4Health member and expat, Gene Warneke, reports "there are enclaves of foreigners, but crime is a major problem for homeowners".

• Cost: 30%-40% of U.S.
• Mainly dental and cosmetic due to proximity to U.S.
• 1 JCI accreditation

(However medical tourism providers report that now Costa Rica has three JCI accredited hospitals.)

Travel Summary

Nosara, Costa Rica Travel – Nosara, Costa Rica Travel Guide for Medical Tourists – Nosara, Costa Rica Travel Tips

Drive to Nosara is reported to be quite easy, mostly paved, approached through town of Nicoya. Last 45km was a bit bumpy but not too bad. Nosara is rather confusing at first, as it is very spread out,

Getting to and around in Guanacaste Province is no problem.  Airports are nearby and are served by several air flights daily from the U.S.  Bus, Taxi and rental cars are all readily accessible, and public transportation in Costa Rica is excellent.
